Information about .EU domain

As soon as the moment of registration starts to approach, interested persons will be informed about it with detailed information on further procedure.
Who can be an owner of .EU domain:
- Firms that have a registered office, branch office or right to pursue business on the territory of any of the EU member states
- organizations established within the scope of any of the EU member states
- EU citizens
When ordering the domain pre-registration 2 cases must be distinguished:
1. The applicant has a prior right for a given domain name - it concerns:
- a state body or public institution
- an owner of a similar trademark
- a generally known brand name used in business connections
These domains will be registered in a so-called sunrise period. The applicant will then be obliged to deliver all necessary documents that prove his prior right. If more persons are interested in a given domain name, the one who filed the application sooner and delivered full data on time will obtain the domain
2. Other interested persons - – free registration will be started after several months after the sunrise period. The same rule applies here again, that that interested person who files the application sooner and pays registration fees will obtain the domain
The domain pre-registration is totally free and serves for a preliminary expression of an interest in future registration of the stated domain. Before the initiation of registrations you will be asked in due time to send details regarding the order and to pay registration fees. Unpaid orders will not be sent for registration.
Time schedule:
december 2005 (7th december 2005 ) The beginning of the Sunrise period (stage 1). .EU domain registration will be released for state institutions and trademark owners.
February 2006 (7th February 2006) The beginning of the Sunrise period (stage 2). .EU domain registration will be further released for other trademarks and also brand names pursuant to legislation of a relevant member state.
April 2006 (7th April 2006) Closing of the Sunrise period. Start of .EU domain registration for the general public.
The domain registration may be done for 1 year only; the domain may be extended after a year again maximally by 1 year.
